Yolanda Griffith, WNBA

So it's not everyday you get to say you got to have lunch with an olympic gold medalist, but for me today was.

I was singing back-up vocals in my friends band, "True Worship," this morning at a "Shaping Your Future" Conference, where I got to meet the two time gold medalist, Yolanda Griffith.  She's a basketball player in the WNBA.  And of course, She is really tall! Well anyways I don't know how I forgot to ask for her autograph, but we did get to take a picture together ;)  Just thought this was a pretty special day.

India Arie

So yesterday my bestie was educating me on gospel music and some of her favorite singers, majority of them being black.  This lady definately stood out to me.  As a songwriter she touches on many issues and promotes good ethics.  Some of my favorite songs of hers include "Ghetto" which I got to sing back-up vocals for my friend Elika on International Justice Day.

The lyrics from her song "Video" touched me deeply.

I'm not the average girl from your video
and I ain't built like a supermodel
But, I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen

Destiny.... And the Path We Choose

So I got horribly sick a few weeks ago, and it was terrible! except for the fact one of my roomies was sick too, so we got to be quarantined together watching movie after movie and just sleeping the fever and sniffles away.  However being sick meant losing my voice completely for about a week and a half.  Probably one of the worst things that could happen to me since music is my life and I'm a music major. After two weeks I got depressed, I felt so unmotivated to do anything but sleep.  So I spent most of my time just thinking.

Honestly, my joy in schooling had started to fade and I realized that I really wasn't where I wanted or was supposed to be.  After studying music for an entire year, I realized my life was headed in a totally different direction now. Though the thought of switching majors or even schools possibly made me feel like a failure, it was something I had to look into.

My only other choice of majors I'd want to do here was English, it was what I applied as before switching over to music.  They have an amazing English program here, and one of the few schools in California that actually offer a bachelors in Creative Writing!! After looking into the requirements for these I found out I was only three classes away from having a music minor and I would only have to take four lit courses for English. I dread literature, probably the only reason I hadn't switched to English sooner.  Instead of two more years here, I would only need three semesters at the most, possibly just two!  This is a great relief since schooling is not cheap.

I knew God had led me here, for a particular reason.  I'm just know finally learning.  Through all the hardships I've had here. I always asked God.  Why?  Why would you bring me all the way here to fail?  It was to grow.  Coming here has helped me discover other passions I have, and grow deeper in my relationship with Him.  I definately can't wait for the following semesters when I will have more time to dedicate to songwriting, and study how to communicate more effectively through my words.

Psalms 25:4
Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow.

Posters and Black & White Photography

So my roommates finally decided to swich up our dorm room and move their Glee posters, and once again rearrange the furniture.  I must say I'm super pleased with our new arrangement.  Now I got a corner I can snuggle in with my blankeys and amazing lighting instead of the dull light we usually get.  Plus one of my roomies got these amazing Audrey Hepburn posters, which I love.   So I don't know much about her, but she seems like she's got class, and considering that recently I've been so into fashion and such I enjoy having her around.  Though I must say this has got me looking into posters and black and white photography of vintage stuff.

There are some pretty cool stuff out there. Such as the eiffel tower.  I think it would be fun to get some posters like this to decorate my room back home... though it would be super awesome to take some of my own pics.  I found these ones online,  they look awesome....  <3 <3 <3

Model of the Day - Karina

This is Karina, she is a great person.  She's so genuine and kind.
I really liked her outfit today.  It was very elegant, yet simple.

Her outfit today definately complimented her.  I loved the way her slacks shaped her.

Plus her heels were super pretty.  Since they were white they also gave a nice contrast to the rest of her outfit.

Today, Karina wore this beautiful blue blouse with a built-in belt; and instead of a necklace, she wore this beautifully sparkly scarf.

Her pink handbag was so cute. It contrasted nicely with the blue too.

One of my favorite things about her blouse were the sleeves.  They small detail definately created the look.

Lastly, since it was a rainy day, you cannot forget your umbrella.  This one was polka-dotted!

Model of the Day - Rose

This is Rose!  My super awesome artist friend that is helping me with creating my buttons.
She is so daring when it comes to fashion.  She is the next Chanel.

This is her pirate outfit.  Characterized by belts, her converse, scarf, dress, and pirate shirt.
There are so many cool elements to her fashion.

Lately, one student on our campus has been helping girls get feather extensions.
They are a very unique accessory and last for months.

Rose likes to add a small pen-drawn heart near her eye.  It's pretty cute and draws the attention to her gorgeous eyes.  The flowers are also beautiful and look amazing with her hair

This pink scarf is so bright and eye-catching adds a lot of color to this outfit.

Rose likes to call this design on her nails skunks.

For jewelry she simply wore her purity ring.

Her wide array of belts and her scarf added her own personal twist to a simple style.

These converse are so awesome.  They remind of anime cartoons with the super spunky boots and the over the knee socks.  :)  Love em!
