Christmas Vacation

Well, I gotta say I think this was my favorite Christmas in quite a while.  This year we got to spend a week in our friend's cabin in Arnold, California.   It was really nice.  Yeah, we didn't have cell phone reception or internet for an entire week, but it was super cozy and relaxing, plus we got to visit Calaveras Big Trees State Park and Lake Alpine.

I'd venture to say there is probably nothing more inspiring than a restful week in the mountains.  The fresh air, the smell of pine trees and a wood fire, the soft sunlight shining through the windows. <3333 It's all so soothing.   I was really happy that during this week I was able to write the lyrics to an entire song, now I just need to work on the music.  But what was even better was that it wasn't a love song!  I've been trying to write songs with better lyrics and it just seemed hard to write about things other than heartbreak or love.  My song started off being about a clock (I know random, but the music sounded like it was ticking) and then it ended being about time and life.  It's actually pretty deep.

Well anyways if you wanna see some more pics from our trip you should check out my other blog.

And I know it's a bit late, but Merry Christmas!!!
Have a good end of the year <3

With much love,
Nicole Alejandra

Model of the Day - Karina

This is Karina, she is a great person.  She's so genuine and kind.
I really liked her outfit today.  It was very elegant, yet simple.

Her outfit today definately complimented her.  I loved the way her slacks shaped her.

Plus her heels were super pretty.  Since they were white they also gave a nice contrast to the rest of her outfit.

Today, Karina wore this beautiful blue blouse with a built-in belt; and instead of a necklace, she wore this beautifully sparkly scarf.

Her pink handbag was so cute. It contrasted nicely with the blue too.

One of my favorite things about her blouse were the sleeves.  They small detail definately created the look.

Lastly, since it was a rainy day, you cannot forget your umbrella.  This one was polka-dotted!

Model of the Day - Rose

This is Rose!  My super awesome artist friend that is helping me with creating my buttons.
She is so daring when it comes to fashion.  She is the next Chanel.

This is her pirate outfit.  Characterized by belts, her converse, scarf, dress, and pirate shirt.
There are so many cool elements to her fashion.

Lately, one student on our campus has been helping girls get feather extensions.
They are a very unique accessory and last for months.

Rose likes to add a small pen-drawn heart near her eye.  It's pretty cute and draws the attention to her gorgeous eyes.  The flowers are also beautiful and look amazing with her hair

This pink scarf is so bright and eye-catching adds a lot of color to this outfit.

Rose likes to call this design on her nails skunks.

For jewelry she simply wore her purity ring.

Her wide array of belts and her scarf added her own personal twist to a simple style.

These converse are so awesome.  They remind of anime cartoons with the super spunky boots and the over the knee socks.  :)  Love em!

Fashion Model for the Day - Elika

Let me introduce you to Elika.  She is amazing!  I absolutely love her.  She is a super talented singer with a phenomal voice and she's absolutely gorgeous.

I definately look up to Elika.  She is just an amazing role model. Confident and Strong. A woman of God.

Isn't her dress so pretty? Especially with the beads and her beautiful face.

My Own Style

Blouse, Cardigan [Ross], Scarf [Dollar Tree], Shorts, Nylons, Socks, Boots

So I got this outfit idea from one of the pictures in my "inspiration notebook."  It was really cute!

My favorite thing about this cardigan, besisdes that it's zebra print is that it has pockets.  Helps so much for carrying around little things such as my key card.

These boots are so comfortable.  They're actually hiking boots I found in the mall. I wore them with long thick black socks and black nylons to make them look more feminine.

I love this scarf, and it only cost me $1 at the Dollar Tree. Whoot, whoot!  I think the lacey shirt also works well to make it even girlier.

And in the morning when it was a little too cold to wear just the cardigan I had this black jacket, I got at Ross for like $20.  It keeps me really warm.

Fashion Model for the Day - Joycelyn

I was walking back from class, when I spotted Joycelyn.   Her outfit was so pretty.
She had a long sleeve blouse with a lacey shirt underneath and a necklace.

She also wore these adorable heels with flowers on them.

However my favorite part was most definately her purse.
It was big and had a really nice pattern on it.

Fashion Model for the Day - Kayla

So my featured guest today is Kayla, my bestie.  She is one of the funnest and most real people I know.  Her simple, yet cute outfit today truly reflected her inner beauty and shined among the crowds.

Boots, Skinny Jeans, Blouse, Cardigan, Belt, Necklace

These boots are absolutely beautiful! They're sturdy yet really dressy.
I LOVE THEM!

Kayla's jewelry was not too complex yet it went so well.
Of course, the saying does go "Less Is More!"

Wearing the necklace and earings adds sparkle to the outfit.  Then the white belt accentuates Kayla's waist and ties in the outfit by bringing in a little more life.  :)
PS. If you hadn't noticed, her cardigan also has pockets, great for caring random items.

KAYLA'S FAVORITE BIBLE VERSE:

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

What to do with all those magazines??

So as a female college student, I have most definately gotten my fair share of reading magazines.  They got cute outfits, tips on how to style your hair, do your make-up, how to be healthier, workout routines, fun quotes, and items I eventually need to buy. lol  Of course after reading several magazines I forgot which one it was in, and honestly how many times will you go searching through all of them for that one outfit you had to try.  Well my bestie came up with this GREAT idea!  Why not cut out all the articles and outfits you like and put them into a notebook.  We like to call it our "inspiration notebook".   It's really simple to make.:

1.  Buy a composition notebook, glue-sticks, and tape

2.  Read, read, read, and cut out your favorite things from your magazines

3.  Glue them into your book however you like

4.  Don't forget to decorate your cover!   (I like to use the tape for this part)

*You can also cut out cute patterns and such to add more color to the notebook.  gel pens and highlighters are also fun to use for writing in things in random parts of your book.

Now whenever you need a little inspiration just go check out booklet ;)  Have fun!!

Day 27 - This was my favorite shirt

So it's always a bummer, when something that used to be your favorite doesn't look the same anymore.  Unfortunately I came across this when I wore one of my favorite shirts, it just doesn't look the same without my long curly locks.  Oh well, gotta learn how to wear everything.   It's still a cute outfit

Day 26 - Colored Denim

Since short hair is a little harder to look girly with than long hair, one of my recommendations is to wear bows, headbands, hats, or just more girly outfits, which is what I did today.  I started off my outfit with this adorable headband with a flower.  Then I continued by wearing pink denim pants (one of the fashion challenges) and a cream colored shirt.  To add a bit more color I added a scarf my camp counselor gave me last summer, and then added some airwalkers to complete the outfit!  It may have made me look a bit younger, but you could definately tell I was a girl :)

Day 25 - New Style

Only 5 more days to my fashion challenge!   And I've decided to switch it up.  I totally changed my style, but I getting a new hairstyle.  I'll probably post pictures next week.  It looks really cute, but very different.  To go with this new style I most definatly rocked the skinny jeans, with some sandals, a t-shirt, and some nice big earings!  whoot whoot, simple but stylin.  ;)

Day 24 - Totally Crazy

Since my hair looked flat today, I decided to wear a scarf as a bandana and actually ended up coming up with this really exotic outfit!   Plus it knocked out several of the fashion challenges from my favorite fashion website.  1) Slouchy Pants,  2) Contrasting styles in one outfit, and 3) Wear black and brown together.  :)  Awesome!

Outfit #24:  Scarf (worn as headband),  Brown short-sleeve turtleneck, Camel-colored slouchy pants [they're actually part of my costume from when I was in Lion King], Sandals - $.50 (Clothing Exchange), Purse - Gift (Mexico), and Leather Jacket

Day 23 - Cropped Top

Most people don't like cropped tops, because they show too much skin or look too 80's.  Of course, I love the look so I decided to wear a pretty pink cropped top that used to be my mom's.   I was able to easily fix it up by adding a white camisole underneath.

Outfit #23:  Cropped Top,  White camisole, Jeans, Airwalkers

Day 22 - Revisiting My Old School

Today, I got to spend this nice cool day at my old highschool.  Well, it's actually a co-op for homeschoolers, but I took classes there my freshman year.  It was quite nice, most of my friends have moved on, but there were a few left.  :)   Of course, I have to finish this Fashion Challenge nicely so I finally got to wear a skirt again!  with leggings of course.... and boots, and a warm sweater and a fuzzy bright blue scarf to add color.

Day 21 - Break is Almost Over

So I've been trying to establish some of my goals and habits for this year and organize my room, spend time with my family, finish reading a few books, and before you know, break is pretty close to over.  In just another week pretty much, I'll be back to living on campus.    So any things I wanted to get done at home, have to get done pretty soon.  This is slightly disappointing. With all the holidays and visiting family and vacation, I've hardly gotten to get anything done at home.  But at least I've been improving my style skills!  not really... but I've been trying.    Yeah, today I went a little more casual with some jeans and a polo shirt. Yep, simple.  I'm starting to think I should've chosen a shorter time period, bleh.  oh well.

Day 20 - Leg Warmers!

Yay! Only 10 more days to go on my fashion challenge.  So I stayed with the jeans, but added some leg warmers to give an extra "kick" to the outfit.   Doing so helped so much when walking through the downtown today, kept me warm  :)

Day 19 - Scarves and Layering

So once again I'm back to my jeans.  Of course, I used a long sleeved dress shirt today with a long sleeved shirt underneath, an my boots again.  But this time I added a scarf!  A really pretty green one :)  It's my favorite one.  Yeah... other than that not much going on.  Just trying to organize my room.... not sure how well that's going either.

Day 18 - Wearing A Summer Dress In the Wintertime

So I'm about half-way through this challenge, and I think this is the first time that I finally got around to wearing a dress, which was the main reason why I started this.  Which proves the point that wearing a dress while looking casual is difficult, and also that it isn't too difficult to dress up wearing jeans :)  To pull off this style though, especially in the winter time. I went with leggings to keep my legs warm and a dress shirt to keep my shoulders and upper body warm-though a jacket was needed for when I went outside.  Though I was wearing a dress, since I did not wear heels, but rather boots and leggings, I did not look too dressy.  Of course summer dresses aren't quite as formal anyhow, but perhaps that is the key.  We shall see.

Outfit #18:  Summer Dress,  Boots,  Leggings,  Dark Grey Dress Shirt.

Day 17 - Back Home Again

So I didn't get too good a start to my new year.  Yeah it was fun staying up till 1am, but that meant, that for Jan. 1st I spent it sleeping in till like 1pm.  Lame.  But I quickly made it up today.  Even though my day started off as a bad hair day, I fixed it all with a handy-dandy headband!   Of course to make it work, this meant wearing skinny jeans to church. However this as shown before can be dressed up nicely, with a sweater and long sleeved shirt.  Some big hoop earings and a little mascara ;)

Day 15 & 16 - A New Year

So both these days we're special days: New Year's eve and New Years.  This made it easier to dress up.  On new years, I wore one of my favorite dresses with some black legging, boots, and a nice jacket.  While to start off the new year, I went with a simple black skirt, skin colored tights, boots, a simple shirt, and a warm sweater.
